The American Economy and Its Challenges (In-Person)

This course will discuss the challenges currently facing the American economy including inflation, labor shortages, supply chain disruptions, the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war, global economic competition with China, income, wealth and tax inequities, an exploding national debt, control of economic sectors by dominant players and the tension between climate change and the need to supply current energy needs. It will include an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of efforts by the Biden administration and the Federal Reserve to overcome these challenges, the political impact of the economic developments and a discussion of the future of the American economy.
