Rest, recharge and reflect during break

Your first semester went by more quickly than we could have imagined! The semester was full of exciting changes and opportunities. Take time to celebrate your success and achievements!

Winter break is a well-deserved time to rest and recharge. You put in the work. You deserve the time off. An academic semester is inherently a lot of hard work, so make sure you take time to take care of yourself and recharge for the upcoming spring semester.

Reflect on this past fall. Bring out a pen and paper, and think and write about your semester:

  • What went well?
  • What challenges did you encounter?
  • What resources helped you most?
  • What study strategies worked for you?
  • What exams or courses went particularly well?
  • Is there anything you want to do differently?

Finally, prepare for a successful spring ahead!

In early January, your four-year advisor will be reviewing your fall grades and your upcoming spring semester schedule. Keep an eye out for any messages from them that require a response.

As syllabi and course materials become available to you, set aside some time to prepare for the spring semester. Find out what textbooks and other course materials you may need and order them early so you can have them on the first day of classes!
