Take advantage of fall break in Cleveland

Are you planning on staying in Cleveland over the fall break? We asked our tour guides for their recommendations of great things to do around the campus and Cleveland community.

  • Watch a movie with some friends! You can have a movie night by renting the projector from KSL or using the TV in your residence hall’s common room. Get a bunch of snacks and it’s a really fun way to spend some time with other people staying over break. - Abbey ‘25
  • Hop on the RTA to Ohio City! Study at a cafe or go out to dinner in the city’s dining and entertainment hub! Some great things to do are Tabletop Cafe, Pins Mechanical Co., Cleveland Candle Co, or even walking to see the street art and murals. - Meera ‘24
  • Watch a film at the Cleveland Cinematheque. They show films Friday through Sunday, three films a day. And the weekend of fall break those films include Bambi and Annie Hall. So go check them out. The theater is conveniently located on Euclid, right next to the Orangetheory Fitness. - Archer ‘26
  • If you have a car or know someone with a car you could take a trip to the Holden Arboretum. They have a really cool tree walk and it’s amazing especially in the fall when the leaves start to turn colors. - Annabel ‘25
  • If you’re looking to be a little more active, take a walk through Lake View Cemetery; It’s right past campus on Euclid Ave, and has a beautiful pond with swans and a lot of Cleveland history. - Chelsea ‘25
  • Go on a hiking trip! Go down to Cuyahoga Valley National Park! My favorite places to hike in the park are the Ledges Trail and Blue Hen Falls. You can also buy a pretty cheap ticket for the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and take a scenic tour of Cuyahoga Valley. - Braeden ‘25
  • Take the BlueLink to Coventry Village and explore a local neighborhood. Visit Made Cleveland for locally-sourced fall-themed and spooky glassware, cards, gifts, and more. Grab a seasonal drink and a muffin at Phoenix Coffee Co. or a bubble tea and steamed bun at Koko Bakery. Read a book (for fun!!) at the Cleveland Heights Coventry Village Public Library or at Mac’s Backs. - Kat ‘24
  • Use the RTA to get to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Edgewater Beach, or Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Look out for any sports games that might be happening. We have so many sports teams, you’re bound to find a game or two. - Sweta ‘26
  • Take advantage of the access to museums all around campus: Cleveland Museum of Art—you can access the current special exhibit, China’s Southern Paradise, with your student ID card or the Cleveland Botanical Garden—there’s a butterfly release everyday at 2 p.m.! - Samyuktha ‘26
