If your car is broken into:
- File a police report: Contact CWRU PD at (216) 368-3333 to file a police report as soon as possible. You should have your driver's license, vehicle registration, car insurance ID and a list of any missing items ready to show the police.
- Document the scene: Take pictures of the damage to your car and immediate area.
- Contact your insurance company: You'll likely need a police report to file a claim. Your insurance company may need to send an adjustor to assess the damage and recommended repairs
- Contact your bank or credit card company: If any credit or debit cards were stolen, call your bank immediately to freeze any accounts or cancel cards.
- Alert the DMV: If you car registration or license plate was stolen from your vehicle, inform your state's department of motor vehicles.
