Music Directors and Organizers

Jacob M. Shaw is an arranger and multi-instrumentalist, currently pursuing a Masters degree in Engineering and Management at Case Western Reserve University. His arrangements primarily have been for wind and marching bands, with some explorations into smaller chamber wind and brass ensembles. Some of his works have been performed at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and the Eleanor Roosevelt High School (ERHS) in New York City, along with the NYC Department of Education's Summer Arts Institute (SAI) program. He studied piano with Ms. Irina Edleman for 10 years and music theory with Dr. Eric Chernov at the Mannes College of Music pre-college program. Jacob has had six years of conducting experience with both high school and college bands. He served as the Drum Major for the CWRU Spartan Marching Band in the 2020 and 2021 seasons, conducted 5 concerts with the ERHS Symphonic Band from 2016 to 2018, and conducted live on WQXR in the summer of 2017. Most recently, he formed the CWRU Clarinet Choir in February 2022 and currently serves as its conductor and musical director.

Emma E. Bentley is a first-year student pursuing a B.S. degree in Music Education at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). She has been playing clarinet for 10 years and currently studies with Mr. Daniel Gilbert (CWRU/CIM). In high school, she studied with Dr. Emily Dobmeier at the Eastman Community Music School and performed with the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. Emma also founded the Victor Winds Project in 2019 at Victor Senior High School, serving as its conductor and musical director until graduating in 2021. She was also the Drum Major for the Victor Marching Blue Devils in the 2019 and 2020 seasons. At CWRU, Emma holds treasurer positions in both the CWRU chapter of the Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association (OCMEA) and the Music Undergraduate Student Involvement Committee (MUSIC). Emma is currently the principal E-flat clarinetist for the CWRU Symphonic Winds, as well as an active member of the Percussion Ensemble, Chamber Ensembles, CWRU Footlighters pit orchestra, and Spartan Marching Band. In January 2022, Emma decided to expand the music scene at CWRU, founding the Woodwind 9tet ensemble. She is also one of the event coordinators for the CWRU Clarinet Choir.

Rebecca “Becky” L. Schneirov is a third-year student pursuing a B.A. in Economics and Statistics at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). She has played clarinet in a variety of ensembles and clubs at CWRU, including serving as the principal clarinetist for the Symphonic Winds, Klezmer Ensemble, Case/University Circle Symphony Orchestra, Camarata Chamber Orchestra, and the ClariVoyants, a clarinet chamber group formed in 2021. She was also a member of the Spartan Marching Band and CWRU Pep Band playing clarinet and alto saxophone. When she’s not making music, Becky serves as Vice President for both the Weatherhead Economics Society and Women in Economics Club, is a Resident Assistant for the Murray Hill Residential Community, participates in research with Dr. Daniel Shoag (CWRU), and serves as a Teaching Assistant for both econometrics and advanced econometrics. Becky also works for the Music Department as a Student Ambassador and applies this knowledge in her role as an event coordinator for the CWRU Clarinet Choir.
