All talks happen on Fridays at 4:00 PM in Harkness Classroom and are open to the public. 

About the Talk

“Finding Flow in Music: A Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Case Study”

This presentation explores therapeutic resources found in musical interaction for a client of Nordoff-Robbins music therapy. In particular, the role of improvisation and joint musical play highlight unique affordances in music therapy for an autistic child. 

About the Speaker

Since 2011, Zachary Kandler has worked as a music therapist at Rebecca School in New York City, a therapeutic day school for neurodiverse children and adolescents. He earned his Level I and Level II certifications in Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy and is a member of the clinical staff at the Nordoff-Robbins Center for Music Therapy at NYU. Zachary is also a training leader in DIRFloortimeâ through the Interdisciplinary Council on Development and Learning (ICDL) and an adjunct faculty member in the music therapy programs at NYU and Montclair State University.
