About the Event

Stylus Fantasticus

Featuring: Students and Faculty of the CWRU Historical Performance Program
Director: Julie Andrijeski

In Italy, at the turn of the 17th century, opera was born, ushering in a new modern musical era. Individual expression and clarity of text, accompanied by clearly defined harmonic bass lines, overshadowed the egalitarian complexities of an earlier polyphonic style. This new harmonic world opened the door to creative experimentation and extravagant flights of fancy—a “fantastical style” aimed to move the passions of the soul.

Join students and faculty from the Case Western Reserve University Historical Performance Program for a special showcase as part of the Eastman School of Music and Memorial Art Gallery's Third Thursday Concert series.

Presented monthly from October through May, the series features faculty and guest artists performing on Eastman's Italian Baroque Organ in the Memorial Art Gallery's Fountain Court.

Concerts are made possible by the Rippey Endowed Trust.

Admission & Seating

The concert is included with museum admission after 5:00 PM. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Early arrival is encouraged.
