CWRU undergraduates can apply for the integrated BS/MS Biostatistics program, which allows for the completion of both a BS (any major!) and an MS in Biostatistics in 4 – 5 years. The MS in Biostatistics program trains students to analyze data in health and medical research studies and prepares them for well-paying careers (average starting salary of $70,000) that contribute to improving and saving lives.

Eligible Majors

Any Major offering a BS is eligible.

This program is intended to be an honors graduate program for highly motivated and qualified BS students who wish to pursue an advanced degree. Students admitted to the Program may, in their junior and/or senior year, take up to nine credit hours of graduate courses that will count toward both BS and MS requirements. Completing the additional MS degree requires a total of only 22 extra credits (31 credit MS – 9 credits double counted toward BS and MS = 22 additional credits).

Requirements

Minimum GPA of 3.0 AND Completed 75 credit hours of coursework. No senior status (completion of 90 credit hours).

Advantages BS/MS students have over traditional BS then MS students:

  • No application fee is required
  • The GRE exam is not required
  • 2 admission periods, Fall and Spring
  • 9 less credits total than doing the programs consecutively due to double counting
  • BS/MS students pay the lower tuition rate per course (undergraduate tuition rate)
