The U.S. Internal Revenue Service will reduce mileage rate guidelines for operating personal vehicles for 2017. The new rate of 53.5 cents per mile will be used for all CWRU personal vehicle reimbursement requests beginning January 1st, 2017. Remaining requests with travel dates in 2016 will still be reimbursed at the 2016 rate of .54 cents per mile. The university uses the IRS-calculated rate as compensation for operating costs that include fuel, wear-and-tear, and insurance costs. Read the IRS announcement.
