There are two types of chemical waste, each with its own procedure for disposal:
- RCRA regulated chemical waste: Regulated as a Hazardous Waste by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and
- Non-RCRA regulated chemical waste: Waste not regulated by RCRA. This type of waste may be regulated by the city, county, state or sewer district regulations.
Environmental Responsibility
Many chemicals may not be regulated for disposal, but EHS reserves the right to have those chemicals collected. Examples include Acrylamide or Silver(Regulated) and Ethidium Bromide or Copper (not regulated).
- Note: Copper is regulated in the State of Michigan as it is toxic to aquatic invertebrates.
