Student Medical Plan
At the start of the Fall semester, every graduate student is automatically enrolled in the Student Medical Plan. If you're already have comparable coverage, you can waive your Student Medical Plan before the end of the Drop/Add period. If you waived the Student Medical Plan in a previous academic year, you must waive again at the start of each Fall semester. If you waive the plan in the Fall semester you do not need to take any additional action in the Spring; the waiver applies to the Spring semester as well.
The deadlines to waive your Student Medical Plan for 2025-2026 are:
- Fall 2025: Friday, September 5
- Spring 2026: Friday, January 23 (if you didn't waive in the Fall)
Please note: If you stay enrolled in the Student Medical Plan in the fall and plan to continue enrollment in the Spring semester, make sure to register for your Spring courses early to ensure no lapse in your coverage. If you have coverage this Fall it will continue until January 11, 2026 at 11:59pm EST. If you are taking classes in the Spring and enrolled in the medical plan it will begin on January 12, 2026 at 12:01am EST. If you register after January 23 (the end of Drop/Add), your plan will only become effective on the date you register (not earlier).
