Sara Akhavanfard, MD, PhD

Dr. Akhavanfard is an ABMGG board-certified laboratory geneticist who completed her fellowship in Clinical Laboratory Genetics and Genomics at the Ohio State University, Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She received her Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine from Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, and her M.D. from Iran University of medical sciences and health services in Tehran, Iran. Dr. Akhavanfard’s research interest focuses on genomic profiles of tumors in pediatrics, adolescents, and young adults (C-AYA). Her interests include integrating novel molecular and cytogenomic diagnostic approaches into the clinical care of genetic and cancer patients to help find clinical genomic answers in these patients and advancing their personalized healthcare.
