The Zoom tool in Canvas will be updated to a newer version August 14. This update brings new functionality to the Zoom tool, including:
- Sections or Groups: This new feature allows instructors to create meetings for, and share recordings with, students in a particular Canvas Section or Group. Learn more about using this feature with either Sections or Groups.
- Appointments: Useful for office hours or meetings, instructors can create appointment slots that students can sign up for within Canvas. Learn more about using the Easy Scheduler.
- Polling: Automatically pull polls used in Zoom meetings into the Canvas gradebook for grading. Learn more about viewing poll submissions.
- Groups as Breakout Rooms: Quickly create breakout rooms in Zoom using student information from Canvas Groups. Learn more about creating breakout rooms from Groups.
- Attendance: Sync the Zoom meeting attendance report with the Canvas gradebook. Learn more about setting up the sync.
While no existing Zoom content made in the previous version of the tool should have been impacted, instructors are encouraged to double check any content previously built in the Zoom tool to ensure it still appears as expected.
