These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CWRU AI ("Service"), an AI-powered chatbot developed and owned by Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). By accessing or using this Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the Terms, then you may not access the Service.
- Service Description
CWRU AI is an AI-powered chatbot that provides information and engages in conversation based on the data it has been trained on. The Service is provided "as is" and CWRU makes no warranties regarding accuracy, completeness, security, or reliability of the information provided. Always verify the answers provided by the Service if acting on the answers is in any way impactful. Use of this Service is restricted to individuals who are physically present on CWRU’s campus. Remote access is not permitted. CWRU reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time in its sole discretion. - User Conduct
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not violate these Terms. You specifically agree not to:- Use the Service to generate or disseminate harmful, offensive, or discriminatory content.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' accounts, or any related systems or networks.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers or networks connected to the Service.
- Use the Service in any way that could harm, disable, overburden, or impair the Service or interfere with any other party's use of the Service.
- Use the Service to violate any applicable laws or regulations.
- Submit, store, or process any sensitive or regulated data.
Sensitive data includes, but is not limited to:- Personally Identifiable Information (PII), such as Social Security numbers, government-issued identification, or financial account details.
- Protected Health Information (PHI), including medical records and any health-related data covered under privacy laws.
- Educational records, such as transcripts, grades, or any student-related data protected under education privacy laws.
- Regulated or classified information, including data subject to government restrictions or export controls.
- Payment Card Information, including credit or debit card details subject to financial security standards.
- Any confidential, proprietary, or legally protected information belonging to individuals, businesses, or organizations.
- Individuals using the Service are responsible for ensuring that any data they enter is appropriate for public disclosure.
- Privacy and Intellectual Property
Data entered into CWRU AI is not used to train models. However, interactions with the Service are logged for operational, security, and compliance purposes. CWRU retains logs of conversations, along with the logged-in user accounts associated with the conversations. At the request of the appropriate university or external authority, chats can be retrieved for appropriate business purposes or to meet legal obligations. As with other enterprise systems at CWRU, all interactions with CWRU AI are the property of the university. Individuals using the Service should have no expectation of privacy when using this Service. - Limitation of Liability
IN NO EVENT WILL CWRU, ITS EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OFFICERS, OR DIRECTORS BE LIABLE FOR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, UNDER ANY LEGAL THEORY, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE, ANY CONTENT ON THE SERVICE.
Individuals using the Service assume all risks associated with using AI-generated responses. CWRU does not guarantee the security of third-party AI components that may be integrated into the Service. - Termination
CWRU may terminate your access to all or any part of the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, effective immediately. CWRU reserves the right to revoke access to the Service for any reason, including but not limited to inappropriate use, violation of these Terms, or misuse of the Service. - Reporting Concerns
If you have technical or other issues, such as those related to inappropriate or concerning answers, email help@case.edu, including as much detail as possible, such as the prompt and response, error message, etc.
