While on campus, you can access the same secure, powerful AI portal available to faculty, students and staff to help you plan trips and projects, build a resume, practice job interview questions and many other personal and professional projects and tasks that are important to you!

If you would like to receive guidance on how to get started with AI, visit our Generative AI Community Training below. The more you practice using the portal, the more comfortable you will become and the better the results of working with the portal will be, so feel free to come back often and keep practicing!

Generative AI Community Training

Are you new to Generative AI? Kelvin Smith librarians and University Technology instructional designers have created a training to help you get started! It will take you through the most relevant information you need to get started using Generative AI.

Get Started with the Generative AI Community Training

This is designed for:

  • Beginners with little to no prior knowledge of AI.
  • Anyone curious about how AI works and its impact on our lives.
  • Anyone who is on the CWRU campus as a visitor.

It includes:

  • Gen AI and Chatbot Basics
    • Simple explanations of Gen AI, including examples of chatbots available to the CWRU and local community while on the CWRU campus
    • Basic concepts of how Gen AI systems learn and make decisions
  • Prompting Chatbots
    • Learn how to effectively “prompt” a Chatbot to get the relevant results and avoid “hallucinations”
    • Examples of prompting frameworks and how to practice using them
  • Data Privacy and Ethics
    • Basic ethical considerations related to AI (e.g., data privacy, copyright, bias in AI systems)
  • AI in Everyday Life
    • Common examples of AI in action (e.g., creating schedules, managing tasks, etc.)
