Voice over IP (Voice over Internet Protocol or 'VoIP') technology converts voice calls from analog to digital to be sent over digital data networks. This allows Case Western Reserve University to leverage its existing data network (which includes fiber or copper wiring between and within buildings, plus the routers and switches that comprise the campus network) to transport telephone service throughout the campus.
Case Western Reserve University utilizes Voice over IP (VoIP) to deliver telephony services using both digital and analog handsets. Long distance and International calling is tracked by phone number and billed back to the appropriate departments.
