The Department of Music is pleased to share that Nate Kruse, Professor of Music Education and Department Chair, has been named Associate Editor of Visions of Research in Music Education (VRME), an open-access, peer-reviewed research journal.
VRME publishes quarterly manuscripts that reflect theory, research, and practice in music teaching and learning. The journal features authors across career stages and settings—including music education graduate students, public school music teachers, independent researchers, early-career faculty members, and established scholars.
Kruse served on the VRME Editorial Board from 2011–2025. In his new role as Associate Editor, he will collaborate with the Editor to guide the journal’s direction, review and evaluate manuscripts, and support authors and reviewers in the publication process.
He will work closely with the journal’s new Editor, Cara Bernard, Associate Professor of Music Education at the University of Connecticut.
