Training Resources

Whether you prefer digging through things on your own or you want the hands-on approach, we've got the training for you! Take a look at our training resources to find the perfect workshop, webinar, drop-in hours, or guide. For quick information on a specific tool, check out the Canvas Guides. Use the Canvas Community for to find answers to your questions or to find advice from other instructors. You can also use the calendar on this page to view available training sessions both on campus and online.

CWRU's one year subscription to Canvas training by Instructure is coming to an end. Training by Instructure will remain available through September 29. Other training resources, such as the Canvas Guides and our Getting Started videos, will remain available.

Getting Started with Canvas

Need to get started with Canvas but not sure where to start? Come chat with our team members and cover the basics of beginning in Canvas. Topics include creating a course, copying content from Blackboard, adding your syllabus and materials, assignments, announcements, and other Canvas essentials. Walk-ins are welcome!

If you have advanced questions or need specialized Canvas advice, sign up for a Canvas Consultation! In order to participate in a Consultation, you must sign-up for a particular time slot.

Canvas Overview for Instructors: A CWRU specific training course for instructors

The Teaching & Learning Technologies team has put together a training course for instructors, focusing on CWRU-specific topics and recommendations.

Canvas Training by Instructure

‌Instructure, the company that makes Canvas, offers training to students, staff, and faculty at Case Western Reserve University. In order to view available training listings and register to participate, you will need to navigate to the Training Space within the Canvas Community. Once you get there, you'll need to sign-in or create an account using your CWRU email address, then find select and register for the trainings you wish to attend. Here's how to get started:

  1. Access the Training Space at
  2. Create an account or sign in. For more information on this step, take a look at the Training - Account Guide.
  3. Search for a training you would like to take, then register for it. For more information on this step, take a look at the Training - Registration.
  4. Repeat and sign-up for as many training sessions as you'd like!
