Connecting Virtually
We enable videoconferencing technology on the desktop, in conference rooms and classrooms throughout the campus.
What is Videoconferencing?
Videoconferencing allows you to sit in front of a video monitor (a TV screen) talking to another party in virtually any part of the world. This is not limited to two persons in a conference and may involve many people at many different venues.
- Improves Communication, Reinforces Relationships and Improves Effectiveness
- Reduces Travel Expenses

Getting Started
The following information is required in order to properly configure your system to operate with the Case videoconferencing network and to set up a point-to-point Conference Call. If you are attempting to install a videoconferencing endpoint, other than eConf, please call MediaVision support at 216.368.3777.
Configuring Your System
- H.323 alias (name): for desktop endpoints, we will be using Case email addresses (i.e. firstname.lasname@case.edu). For room sites, we will be using building and room number information (i.e. Adel351, SOMWG60)
- H.323 extension (number): use your seven-digit campus phone number (i.e. 368xxxx). If you have multiple client terminals, but only one campus extension, please use your cell phone number for your desktop endpoint (eConf)
- CWRU Gatekeeper IP address: 129.22.8.216 - In H.323 IP conferencing, a Gatekeeper is a server that is responsible for "managing" the videoconferencing network. A Gatekeeper eliminates the need for end-users to remember complex IP addresses for dialing each other, replacing them with user-friendly aliases (i.e. H.323 name alias, or H.323 extension)
- Auto answer: Auto answer will enable your endpoint to automatically answer incoming calls.
