Shane Angus is the Executive Program Director for the Master of Science in Anesthesia (MSA) Program at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, overseeing students, faculty, and staff across four national locations. He has led the launch of new programs in Washington, D.C. and Austin, Texas, guiding them through accreditation and building strong clinical partnerships.

A Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant since 1999, Shane has focused his clinical work and teaching on high-risk anesthesia in academic medical centers and level-one trauma hospitals. He brings to his leadership role a breadth of experience in CAA education and expertise in training students for the profession, with a particular focus on early learners. Faculty development is an ongoing priority, and he is developing an innovative clinical instructor development program for CWRU clinical preceptors.

Nationally, Shane serves as Chair of the Association of Anesthesiologist Assistant Education Programs (AAAEP) since 2021, has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF) since 2014, and previously chaired the ARC-AA. In these roles he has helped expand educational access, strengthen clinical standards, and contribute to international patient safety initiatives. He regularly provides expert statements on anesthesia workforce and education issues in state, national, and international forums.

His primary interests include patient safety, higher education, and international healthcare, which intersect within his work at Case Western Reserve University and his long-standing service to the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation.

Prior to becoming an anesthesiologist assistant, Shane attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a degree in Integrative Biology. Before entering the CAA profession, he trained and worked as a classically trained chef.
