University Hospitals' Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio

Case Western Reserve University Master of Science in Anesthesia Program maintains key partnerships with clinical and academic partners in each location’s region and across the country.

University Hospitals Health System and MetroHealth System are the primary affiliates in Cleveland.

In Northeast Ohio, students also rotate at a number of regional teaching hospitals, some of which are highlighted below.

UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital

UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital is a 244-bed children’s hospital located alongside University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. It is nationally ranked in eight children’s specialties, and has been consistently ranked as one of the top three pediatric hospitals in the Midwest and as a top ten children’s hospital by U.S. News & World Report.

Rainbow is a world leader in the treatment of children, housing a dedicated team of more than 1,300 pediatric specialists—including surgical specialists in anesthesiology

Cleveland Clinic

Cleveland Clinic is a multi-specialty academic medical center located about five miles outside downtown Cleveland. The Clinic is currently regarded as the number two hospital in the United States, as rated by U.S. News & World Report.

One of the largest private medical centers in the world, the Cleveland Clinic saw more than 7.6 million patient visits in 2017, with almost 230,000 acute hospital admissions. Patients come from all 50 states and more than 100 nations. The Clinic's approximately 5,000 staff physicians and residents represent 120 medical specialties and subspecialties, and has been ranked number one in America for cardiac care from 1994 to 2012.

The Cleveland Clinic maintains regional hospitals throughout Northeast Ohio, a hospital and family health center in Florida, and a health center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, a specialty center in Las Vegas, and a hospital in Abu Dhabi. MSA Program students have the opportunity to rotate at Hillcrest, which ranks nationally for Diabetes and Endocrinology care and seven other specialties, and Fairview, which ranks nationally for Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, and seven other specialties.

Lake Health

Lake Health is a private, non-profit community healthcare leader in Northeast Ohio that was originally established in 1902. Situated in Lake County, the Lake Health system focuses on providing progressive, compassionate care over an individual’s lifetime to promote health and wellness.

MSA students have the opportunity to rotate at Lake Health West Medical Center in Willoughby. This provider-based facility is a state-of-the-are, acute care hospital that offers open heart surgery, computerized brain and spinal surgery, robot-assisted surgery, advanced MRI and CT scanning, and labor and delivery suites as well as same-day surgery and emergency care.

St. Vincent Charity Medical Center

St. Vincent Charity Medical Center is the city’s first and only downtown hospital. The medical center provides complete services in cardiovascular, emergency medicine, primary care, occupational health, behavioral health, and addiction medicine. It is owned by the Sisters of Charity Health System, and has provided care in Cleveland since 1865.
