Dr. Kim-Mozeleski is a social and behavioral scientist devoted to research on advancing health equity through an array of social epidemiological and community-based research methods. A primary line of research involves the study of tobacco-related health disparities in populations with socioeconomic disadvantage. In this area of research, she has been a pioneer in the study of the intersection amongst smoking, mental health, and food insecurity. She has received well over $1 million in funding as Principal Investigator, on federal and institutional grants and contracts to support her research program related to tobacco- and food access-related health disparities. A secondary line of research involves health disparities affecting Asian American populations, including mental health treatment use and outcomes and the testing of culturally tailored smoking cessation interventions for immigrant populations. Dr. Kim-Mozeleski holds a PhD in social and health psychology, with NIH-funded postdoctoral training in tobacco control and substance use treatment. Prior to joining the faculty at Case Western Reserve University in 2020, she held a tenure-track Assistant Professor position at the University of Massachusetts Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences from 2017-2019. She is a bilingual and bicultural 1.5-generation Korean American immigrant who grew up in the U.S. territory of Guam.
