What is experiential education?

Students at the student activities fair

Experiential education at Case Western Reserve University is an innovative approach to education that emphasizes hands-on training and includes internships, practicums, co-ops, research, volunteering and studying abroad. As part of the student experience, we encourage all students to engage in some form of experiential learning. There’s even a central database online where you can discover opportunities sponsored by CWRU that match your goals and interests.

We will continue to introduce you to experiential education throughout the next few weeks and during Discover Week programming, which includes our Experiential Education Fair, taking place on Thursday, Aug. 24. You will have the chance to meet representatives from various offices and discover internships, research, co-ops, study abroad, service learning and more. Many of our orientation leaders have participated in experiential education first-hand and are excited to share their stories with you during Discover Week.
