Community Use of CWRU AI

CWRU AI is a general purpose AI portal for the community. For members of the Cleveland community, this chatbot only works on the CWRU campus.

Creating your CWRU AI account

The first time you use CWRU AI, you will need to follow the steps below to create an account.

  1. Review our CWRU AI terms of service
  2. Open a browser and visit https://ai.case.edu
    • Note: if you are using a public think[box] computer, use the Firefox browser
  3. Click the "Login with Microsoft" button
  4. Next to "No account?" click the "Create one!" link
  5. Click on "Sign up with email"
  6. Enter your email address and click "Next". A verification code will be sent to this account.
  7. Open your email and copy the account verification code you received from "Case Western Reserve University (via Microsoft)"
    • It may take a few minutes for the email to arrive
    • If you do not see the code in your inbox, check your spam folder
  8. Go back to the CWRU AI login window, paste in the code, and click the "Next" button
  9. In the "Permissions" window click the "Accept" button
  10. Enter your display name, select "United States" for the country/region, click the radio button to accept the terms of use you read above, and click "Continue"
  11. You will receive the message "Sorry, but we’re having trouble signing you in" because it takes a few minutes to activate your new account. Close the browser window and take a 5 minute break.

Signing into CWRU AI

After creating your account and waiting 5 minutes or if you are returning to use CWRU AI again, use these steps to sign in.

  1. Open a browser and visit https://ai.case.edu
    • Note: if you are using a public think[box] computer, use the Firefox browser
  2. Click the "Login with Microsoft" button
  3. Enter the email address you provided when you created your account and click "Next"
  4. Open your email and copy the account verification code you received from "Case Western Reserve University (via Microsoft)"
    • It may take a few minutes for the email to arrive
    • If you do not see the code in your inbox, check your spam folder
  5. Go back to the login window, paste in the code, and click the "Sign in" button
  6. To start chatting, click the "Guidelines" button, read the terms of use again and click "I Agree"

Retaining access to your account

In order to keep your account, you will need to confirm weekly that you still would like access.

  1. Each Tuesday look for an email from "Microsoft Security" regarding "Action required: Review access…"
    • Note: the email may go to your spam folder. If it does, mark it as not spam.
  2. Within 5 days of receiving the email, open the email and click the "Review access" button
  3. Enter your email address and click "Next"
  4. Open your email and copy the account verification code you received from "Case Western Reserve University (via Microsoft)"
    • It may take a few minutes for the email to arrive
    • If you do not see the code in your inbox, check your spam folder
  5. Go back to the login window, paste in the code, and click the "Sign in" button
    • If wish to continue to use CWRU AI, when prompted "Do you still need access to the group 'cwruaiguests'?" select "Yes" and click "Submit"
    • If you do not respond within 5 days or select "No", your account will be disabled for 30 days and then deleted

 

  • If your account is in the 30 day disabled period and you would like to regain access to CWRU AI, email help@case.edu, explain that you are a community user for CWRU AI and ask that your account be re-enabled.
  • If your account has been deleted after being disabled for 30 days, you can follow the "Creating your CWRU AI account" directions above again to regain access.
