The block storage system is not generally visible to end users, but serves as a critical foundation for many university-wide services such as Single Sign-On, www.case.edu, the Software Center and other core UTech services. It is used to store data for virtual servers (VMware) and Oracle databases. Along with the other components of the Storage and Backup service, this system is being upgraded during the 2016-2017 year. VMware storage upgrades are completed and Oracle database storage upgrades are in progress as of December 2016.
