Videoconference Technologies

Below are the videoconference technologies in various buildings and rooms on campus. These are in addition to videoconferencing desktop software.

Cisco TelePresence

Cisco TelePresence Systems (CTS) are videoconferencing solutions with High Definition (HD) video and high sound quality. CTS come in the following models on campus:

  • CTS 1300 (shown at right)
  • CTS 500
  • C 40
  • SX 20

Cisco TelePresence Systems use ten digit numbers to call each other, e.g. 216.754.2102. They easily connect with other Cisco TelePresence sites and Jabber desktop users.

To communicate with other forms of videoconferencing technology, such as Cisco Tandberg, Polycom, Lifesize, Mondopad and Scopia units, as well as Scopia desktop users, the CTS unit and other participants must be able to connect to a special bridge number that can be reached by both TelePresence and IP numbers (e.g., 192.5.109.51 and 1.216.754.2102). Lifesize

Lifesize is a videoconferencing solution that can be found in videoconferencing rooms.

Lifesize units use H.323 technology and easily connect with Scopia desktop users and other sites using Polycom, Lifesize and Cisco Tandberg units. The dialing numbers for these units are IP addresses, e.g., 192.5.109.51.

To communicate with other forms of videoconferencing technology, such as a Cisco TelePresence Site (CTS), the Lifesize unit and other participants must be able to connect to a special bridge number that can be reached by both TelePresence and IP numbers (e.g., 192.5.109.51 and 1.216.754.2102). Email help@case.edu for assistance.

Mondopad

Mondopad units are large touch-screen displays that include the Windows operating system, an interactive whiteboard, document annotation and a webcam.

Mondopads use H.323 technology and easily connect with Scopia and Jabber desktop users and other endpoints using Cisco TelePresence Systems, Polycom, Lifesize and Cisco Tandberg units. All connections to other videoconference endpoints must be made using a special bridge number that can be reached by both TelePresence and IP numbers (e.g., 192.5.109.51 and 1.216.754.2102). Polycom

Polycom is a videoconferencing solution that can be found in videoconference rooms. It comes in the following models on campus:

  • ViewStation
  • FX
  • 7000
  • 8000

Polycom units use H.323 technology and easily connect with Scopia desktop users and other sites using Polycom, Lifesize, Scopia Room and Cisco Tandberg units. The dialing numbers for these units are IP addresses, e.g., 192.5.109.51.

To communicate with a Cisco TelePresence (CTS) endpoint, the Polycom unit and other participating endpoints must be able to dial a special bridge number that can be reached by both TelePresence and IP numbers (e.g., 192.5.109.51 and 1.216.754.2102). Email help@case.edu for assistance.

Tandberg

Tandberg units, part of Cisco's videoconference technology services, use H.323 technology and easily connect with Scopia desktop users and other endpoints using Polycom, Lifesize, Scopia Room and Cisco Tandberg units. The dialing numbers for these units are IP addresses, e.g., 192.5.109.51.

To communicate with other forms of videoconferencing technology, such as a Cisco TelePresence units (CTS), the Tandberg unit and other participants must be able to connect to a special bridge number that can be reached by both TelePresence and IP numbers (e.g., 192.5.109.51 and 1.216.754.2102).
