Standard Computer Offerings

CWRU has partnered with vendor partners to offer Dell and Apple computers with significant educational discounts for institutional purchase. The pre-configured premier systems have excellent warranties and are built for performance, reliability and ease of connectivity at CWRU. These systems are easy to purchase through the Financials eProcurement system and typically include quick delivery. Check with your area's IT representatives for the approval and ordering process for your school, department, or unit.

The Dell OptiPlex 3000 thin client is an inexpensive alternative to a traditional desktop. The thin client connects to a virtual desktop that runs in CWRU's MyApps Citrix environment and offers multiple monitor support along with multiple USB ports. By using a virtual desktop you gain the flexibility of being able to access your desktop and applications from any device using the Citrix Workspace app, as well as data security piece of mind since no data is stored on the thin client itself. Keep in mind that although using virtual desktops offers work style flexibility, there are some restrictions to be aware of related to supported peripherals and software installation. We ask that you contact VDI Admin (vdiadmin@case.edu) to discuss your specific needs before purchasing to make sure that it is the right solution for you.
