The interim assistant program director for the Cleveland location of the Master of Science in Anesthesia Program at Case Western Reserve University will be Carie Twichell, an accomplished certified anesthesiologist assistant and alumna of the program.
“Carie’s diverse background in leadership and AA education is extensive, and we consider ourselves to be very blessed to have her serve in this role,” Executive Program Director Joe Rifici shared with the community earlier this week.
Twichell graduated from the MSA Program in 1999, and has worked as a staff anesthetist at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati and, more recently, at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
She has served on the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants for two terms, and served an additional term as President of that organization.
Additionally, she has extensive experience training CWRU MSA students in the operating room.
Twichell will keep office hours at the MSA Program offices in Lakeside on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and will continue to train students at MetroHealth.
The permanent appointment of an Assistant Program Director will be named after a national search is conducted, a process that has begun recently and that may take as long as six months to complete. The MSA Program will share more information in the coming months.
