Gurpreet Kaur, second-year Master of Science in Anesthesia (MSA) student has dedicated her time to creating a non-profit organization called the Project Kaur Foundation. The organization was established in 2015 by Gurpreet and her childhood friend, both coming from similar backgrounds with uneducated immigrant parents that came to Cleveland for better opportunities. Despite dealing with their own hardships, Gurpreet’s parents emphasized the concept of “seva,” which translates to selfless service. Her intention is to lead a more purposeful life while giving back to the community that once invested in her and her family. The Project Kaur Foundation focuses on Cleveland locals and provides food, water, and various personal care items to those in need.
Kaur set a goal to collect 200 items during this chaotic time in the world and many individuals are struggling. Project Kaur Foundation was able to collect new and gently used clothing as well as hygiene products that were primarily donated to Norma Herr Women’s Shelter and Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry Men’s Shelter in Cleveland.
