Nicholas K. Schiltz, PhD, is a health services researcher and epidemiologist focused on improving care for older adults and people with multiple chronic conditions. His research combines epidemiologic, health services, and artificial intelligence and machine-learning methods with large real-world datasets—including Medicare and Medicaid claims, electronic health records, clinical registries, and national surveys—to study multimorbidity, polypharmacy, functional health, healthcare utilization, and longitudinal health trajectories. His current work emphasizes implementation and evaluation of the Age-Friendly Health Systems 4Ms framework and data-driven approaches to identify clinically meaningful patterns and actionable opportunities for more precise, age-friendly care. He also leads and collaborates on interdisciplinary research in epilepsy, cardiovascular outcomes, cancer, and primary care.
