Dr. Junghyae Lee has conducted several community-based studies with special concentrations on the prevention of children’s obesity in a low-income family, development of surveillance systems, evaluation of intervention programs, and application of statistical analysis methods for the effective utilization of clinical and community data. Dr. Lee has taught multiple introductory courses in epidemiology and prevention sciences at the undergraduate level and advised graduate students for their public health practicum and capstone projects.
Q: Why is your work at the Begun Center important to you, to our community, and to the world?
My primary interest is developing an effective evaluation framework for various health intervention programs. As a prevention scientist, I am also interested in building a reliable intervention model that reduces health disparities across populations. For this purpose, I have a multidisciplinary approach that requires close collaborations with other scholars in different disciplines. Based on evidence-based findings from my research, I develop guidelines for the development and implementation of health policies. I believe my new career in Begun Center will provide a great opportunity to sharpen my research skills and knowledge of community- based interventions and program evaluations.
