New Student Financial Aid Procedures

Review the procedures below to apply for student loans listed on your financial aid award.

Apply - Anytime

  1. Complete your FAFSA. Use the CWRU School Code 003137

Activate- After Enrollment Confirmation

  1. Activate your CWRU Network ID - Once you have completed your Enrollment Response form, you may activate your CWRU Network ID and Student ID 

  2. Access your Email- We may require additional documentation for your Financial Aid, please check your CWRU email on a regular basis. 
    * You’ll also need to complete the Duo Mobile self-enrollment to set up two-factor authentication. Once you have activated your network ID and enrolled in Duo Mobile, you can access your CWRU email at webmail.case.edu.

  3. Complete your internal financial aid application found on your CWRU My Financial Aid portal. A CWRU Network ID is required to access this site, which you will be provided upon admission.

  4. Once the financial aid applications have been completed, an award letter will be emailed to your CWRU account that specifies your gross award amounts.

    Please note: Disbursement of private loans averages 3 to 4 weeks. Please apply early if you are borrowing a private loan. If you choose a lender not on the CWRU preferred lender list, please email faloans@case.edu.

    1. Accept/Decline Awards- When your Financial Aid package is ready for you to accept, you will want to accept your awards electronically via My Financial Aid. After you have accepted your awards you will also need to verify that you completed all of your loan documents.

    2. Complete Master Promissory Note through the Federal Student Aid Website. Go to Complete Aid Process. Make sure you select Case Western Reserve University – you will complete 2 documents. Complete the Unsubsidized Loan and the PLUS MPN for Graduate/Professional Students.

    3. Complete Entrance Counseling through the Federal Student Aid Website. Make sure you select Case Western Reserve University.

    4. Apply for the Grad PLUS Loan through the Federal Student Aid Website. This is the Credit portion of the Graduate PLUS loan. The credit decision is good for 180 days. If your credit decision has expired you would just need re-apply.
