Placement Manager
Field Education

Pranit Lanjewar, MSW, joined the Mandel School as a Placement Manager in the Field Education department at the end of July. Pranit most recently worked at The Community Builders as a Community Life Service Coordinator, serving mixed income communities at Woodhill Homes.

Pranit completed his master’s in social work at the Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at CWRU with a concentration in Health, Trauma-Informed Care Practice, and special interest in mental health. During that time, Pranit served homeless individuals at St. Herman's FOCUS-Cleveland doing a combination of case management and outreach. This experience built a foundation of working with individuals with mental health issues and needing emotional, and social support. During his field placement, Pranit also worked at the US Department of Veterans Affairs in the HUD-VASH department serving homeless veterans. In that role, Pranit did clinical case management, working more directly with veterans also needing mental health services. Some of the key practices included clinical case management, motivational interviewing, CBT, counseling, psychotherapy, substance use, and trauma.

Between undergraduate and graduate work, Pranit worked two years of volunteer service during the COVID-19 pandemic in India participating in children empowerment, women's empowerment activities, school outreach, homelessness, and health camp. This experience drove Pranit towards becoming a professional social worker.

Pranit's undergraduate degree was in Business Administration and specialization in Aviation, Travel and Tourism, and Hospitality Management. He worked in the customer service side of the industry including work experience at airports and hotel groups.
