Add to Calendar: Add to Calendar 2025-09-29 18:30:00 2025-09-29 19:30:00 Advocates in Action Spotlight Speaker Series: Brooke Schipporeit of the National Low Income Housing Coalition Event Description As Senior Director of Field Strategy & Innovation, Brooke Schipporeit oversees the National Low Income Housing Coalition's field outreach, organizing, and advocate-mobilization efforts as they seek racially and socially equitable public policy that ensures people with the lowest incomes have quality homes that are accessible and affordable in communities of their choice. Brooke previously supported state and local coalitions in their efforts to achieve solutions to housing poverty, informed and mobilized coalition members to advance equitable housing policy, and expanded affordable and accessible housing options for people with disabilities and older adults in Pennsylvania. Prior to beginning her career in affordable housing, Brooke worked in direct services in Nebraska for the Head Start program and a domestic violence shelter. She earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Pennsylvania and holds a BS in Social Work from Nebraska Wesleyan University. Please join Dr. Sherry Warren, Director of Enrichment and Engagement at the Mandel School as she welcomes Brooke and learns more about her approach to advocacy. The school's Advocates in Action Spotlight Speaker Series provides the opportunity to listen and engage with prominent local, regional and national leaders to understand the value and strategies of social work advocacy in meeting the needs of marginalized people.
