Advocating for Equity: Anti-Oppressive and Anti-Racism Social Work Practice
Rev. Benjamin Gohlstin's talk, Looking Back to Move Forward, comes from the story of the Sankofa bird.
Gohlstin is senior pastor of Cleveland’s Heritage Community Baptist Church in the Hough neighborhood and chair of the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Cuyahoga County. He is also the local radio host of WOVU 95.9 FM's Black Thought: The Spark, on Tuesdays at 1 p.m.
Gohlstin was honored with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland for his dedicated service as a Hunger Network Board Member, and was also named a lifetime Hunger Network co-founder and Board Member. He has received the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Lifetime Achievement Award from the Zeta Kappa Kappa Chapter and was named the 2023 Pastor of the Year from the Cleveland Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
