Chelsea Flanigan (she/her) earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her Master of Science in Social Administration (MSSA) from Case Western Reserve University. During her master's work at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, Chelsea completed an Independent Study where she developed and implemented a Trauma-Informed Training for behavioral health staff in a partial-hospitalization program. As a licensed social worker, she provided community-based clinical and advocacy services to parents, children, and families subject to involvement with Cuyahoga County’s child welfare agency. In her most recent role, Chelsea worked alongside attorneys in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court providing parental support and advocacy on abuse, neglect, and dependency cases. Through this work, her passion for child welfare reform grew and led her to pursue her PhD, joining the 2021 cohort. Her interests include childhood trauma, anti-racist family interventions, and intergenerational cycles of involvement in the child welfare system.
