Student Loan Deferment General Information
In order to receive a deferment of repayment, the borrower must request the deferment on the proper deferment request form, immediately upon entry into eligible service or student status, along with any documentation required by Case Western Reserve University to prove that the borrower qualifies. This documentation can be submitted directly to HECSI. The student may lose deferment benefits if they fail to submit the request on time. Request deferment for loans administered through Case Western Reserve University at Heartland ECSI:

How to Make Student Loan Payments
Online access are available for borrowers to verify when payments have been received, update address and phone information, verify account balances, obtain loan payoff amounts, sign-up for electronic billing, and make payments. Payment options include Electronic Funds transfer (EFT/ACH), payment date choice (only if using EFT), and credit card payments. Please note that there may be additional fees for type of payment and how the payment is scheduled. Please contact Heartland ECSI at call 1.888.549.3274 for login help or loan assistance.
Log in to pay or access your university-held student loan at the Heartland ECSI Student Loan System. Login information is provided in monthly bills.

Reporting Changes
Please note: The borrower must without exception, report any of the following:
- withdraws from school
- transfers to another school
- drops below half-time status
- changes his/her name
- changes his/her address or parents' address
Any of these instances must be reported to Heartland ECSI through the online portal or by calling 1.888.549.3274.
