Dan Matthews is responsible for leadership and oversight of the Research Computing team as well as the Identity Management Engineering, Cloud Services, and Network Engineering and Unified Communications teams. These teams represent a broad portfolio of services such as high performance computing, campus telephones, single sign-on, server hosting, and network connectivity throughout campus. He oversaw the establishment of research focused cyberinfrastructure such as the campus Science DMZ. He has spent much of his career in higher education focusing on "connectivity", be it with fiber optic cables and radio signals, or via conservations with faculty, staff, and students.
Dan joined Case Western Reserve University in 2010 as a lead network engineer (LAN/WAN architect). Over the years, he has taken on roles of increasing responsibility, including Manager of Network Engineering and Security, and Director of Network Engineering and Unified Communications. Prior to joining the CWRU team, he had a network engineering role at Kent State University where he earned a B.B.A in Management and Information Systems.
