Applying for Graduation

Graduation is almost here! After years of study, you are ready to graduate from Case Western Reserve University and become alumni of Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. 

• May 17 at 4 p.m.: CWRU Convocation to celebrate and recognize all graduating students across the university (Veale Convocation, Athletic and Recreation Center)
• May 19 at 2 p.m.: PhD diploma ceremony, with Grad Studies (Veale Convocation Center)
• May 20, 12:30 p.m.: Diploma ceremony for the MN, MSN and DNP programs (Maltz Performing Arts Center)
• May 21 at 1p.m.: BSN diploma ceremony (Veale Convocation Center)

Deadlines to Apply to Graduate

Applying for graduation in SIS is required for all of our programs. The graduation application for MN, MSN, post-MSN certificate, and DNP students is open the following dates:

• Fall 9/5 - 10/31
• Spring 1/5 – 3/1
• Summer 6/5 – 7/15

How to Apply

When you are ready to apply for graduation, fill out your petition online through the Student Information System (SIS).

Access the Apply for Graduation option in the "Other Academic..." drop-down list in the Academics section of your Student Center.

For PhD Students

If any of your program or plan information is incorrect or you do not see the correct graduation term as an option when you apply online, please contact the School of Graduate Studies at 216.368.4390 or gradstudies@case.edu.

For Post-MSN DNP Students or MSN Students

In your SIS Application to Graduate, if any of your program or plan information is incorrect or you do not see the correct graduation term as an option, please contact the FPB Registrar’s office at 216.368.2183 or fpbreg@case.edu. Please note: If you are a post-Licensure DNP student graduating with your MSN, please contact our office before submitting your petition. We need to update your program before you submit a petition. Do not select DNP as your degree or program when applying to graduate from the MSN portion of the degree.

For Post-MSN Certificate Students

If any of your program or plan information is incorrect or you do not see the correct graduation term as an option when you apply online, please contact the FPB Registrar's Office at 216.368.2183 or fpbreg@case.edu.

For MN students

If any of your program or plan information is incorrect or you do not see the correct graduation term as an option when you apply online, please contact the FPB Registrar's Office at 216.368.2183 or fpbreg@case.edu.

Please note: If you see DNP as a degree option, do not select it. You should select the MN or Master of Nursing program.

For BSN students

If any of your program or plan information is incorrect or you do not see the correct graduation term as an option when you apply online, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Studies at 216.368.2928 or ugstudies@case.edu.
