John A. Yankey

John A. Yankey is the Leonard W. Mayo Professor Emeritus. His research interests include strategic planning, strategic alliance development, fundraising and legislative processes. His professional affiliations include the National Association of Social Workers, Catholic Charities USA, the Leadership Academy at Cleveland State University and the John Glenn Institute at the Ohio State University.

How I Chose This Profession

I chose this profession by accident. Wanting to work with children, I prepared to be a minister and/or a teacher. During the summer months while considering several teaching opportunities, I took a position as a child welfare worker in a public social services agency. It was my calling and I never looked back.
