Participate in Sexual Assault Awareness Month events

As the nation’s annual observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month continues, Case Western Reserve University leaders are encouraging campus community members to participate in events—and work to advance the month’s goals throughout the year. Interested students can participate in upcoming events.

Consent Kissing Booth with therapy dog Maverick

Come stop by Kelvin Smith Library on Monday, April 15, from noon to 2 p.m. to get some love from campus’s favorite friend, Maverick, the comfort dog. Learn about consent and practice while giving a kiss, or simply a pat, to Maverick. Food will be provided. Register in Campus Groups.

Movie Night

Join the Flora Stone Mather Center on Thursday, April 18, 5-7 p.m. for a movie night, followed by a facilitated group discussion about the movie's themes on sexual assault. Snacks and candy will be provided. Register in Campus Groups.

Coffee and consent with #MeToo CWRU

#MeToo CWRU members will be strolling around the first floor of Tink with trivia on consent and healthy relationships on Tuesday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Denim Day Reclamation: Wednesday, April 24

Denim Day was established in 1999 in response to an Italian court's ruling that a woman must not have been sexually assaulted because they believed she helped her abuser remove her jeans, indicating “consent.” The next day, women in the Italian parliament wore denim in solidarity with the survivor.

Wear denim on this day to show your belief that what a person wears does not imply consent and stop by the Mather Center for an artistic break to decorate denim items from 1 to 3 p.m. Register in Campus Groups.

Unwind with Art

Stop by Kelvin Smith Library on Friday, April 16, 12:30-2 p.m. to view art created by a Cleveland Institute of Art student on themes of women, gender and survivorship, while relaxing with button-making, black-out poetry, collaging and more.
