Plan your spring semester and summer research experiences

You probably already know that Case Western Reserve University has a dedicated office just for undergraduate research. The Undergraduate Research Office (URO) encourages and supports this important work throughout your time at CWRU.

The staff in URO can help you identify research projects or show you how to get started on your own research. Each semester, they offer information sessions to share the myriad ways in which you can participate in undergraduate research and new sessions will be posted before the spring semester begins.

To help you plan your semester and summer research, URO has shared key programs and funding opportunities:

Semester research

You can also consult the URO opportunities webpage to identify on-campus research opportunities and tips for searching.

Sometimes, special opportunities are available for Case Western Reserve undergraduates to receive semester funding for sponsored research opportunities. Check the URO website often to discover these possibilities.

Summer research

Summer may feel far away, but the deadlines for undergraduate research programs across the country are not. Most deadlines are in February, many are in January and a few are in December and March. The upcoming winter break is a great time to search for undergraduate research opportunities without the stress of classes, papers and exams.

On-Campus opportunities

URO has four funded summer undergraduate research programs. Application details and deadlines for summer 2024 are posted on their website.
