Portrait of Nathan Berger

Nathan Berger, MD recently received the 2019 Faculty Mentor of the Year Award from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, recognizing his faculty-to-faculty advisership.

Dr. Berger has received many accolades in his work as a Distinguished University Professor, the Hanna-Payne Professor of Experimental Medicine, professor of medicine, biochemistry, oncology, and genetics, and Director of the Center for Science, Health and Society. His research in obesity-associated cancer, particularly in youth, has drawn national attention.

With nine nominations from fellow faculty members for the award, nominators acknowledged Dr. Berger's wisdom, vision, and thoughtful inclusion as rationale for him to receive the honor.

We extend sincere congratulations to Dr. Berger for this award, as we know his passion for mentorship extends not only to his fellow faculty, but throughout his work, including middle and high school students engaged in his Youth Enjoy Science (YES) programs, Learn to Beat Cancer and Research to Beat Cancer, respectively.
