What is a catchment area?
A catchment area is the geographic region an NCI-designated cancer center serves through its research, community engagement and outreach.
For Case Comprehensive Cancer Center (Case CCC), defining this region helps us understand the communities we serve, identify patterns in cancer incidence and mortality, recognize disparities, and align research and outreach with local needs.
Our 15-county catchment area includes:

Together, these counties represent nearly four million people living in urban, suburban and rural communities across Northeast Ohio, each with distinct populations, resources and cancer-related needs.

Cancer InFocus Ohio is a free, interactive mapping tool that makes cancer and community data easier to explore across Ohio. Users can examine patterns in cancer incidence and mortality at the county level, along with information about cancer risk factors and social drivers of health at the census tract level.
The tool can help researchers, clinicians, community partners, public health professionals and residents identify geographic patterns, compare communities and better understand factors that may influence cancer outcomes across Northeast Ohio.
A Cleveland-based consortium serving Northeast Ohio
Case CCC brings together Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals and Cleveland Clinic in a shared effort to advance cancer research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.
The consortium is centered in Cleveland, while its reach extends throughout the entire 15-county catchment area. The Cleveland marker on the map represents the institutional center of the consortium, while Case CCC research, community engagement, resources and care connections extend throughout Northeast Ohio.
