Shilpa Gupta, MD, member of Case CCC's Developmental Therapeutics Program, recently participated in several high-profile scientific and clinical discussions at the 2026 American Urological Association (AUA) Annual Meeting, highlighting ongoing advances in bladder cancer research and care.
During the meeting, Gupta co-chaired a genitourinary oncology summit, participated in a plenary crossfire debate, delivered a podium presentation, and moderated the International Bladder Cancer Group (IBCG) debate.
The conference brought together clinicians, researchers, and collaborators from around the world to discuss emerging therapies, biomarkers, and multidisciplinary approaches aimed at improving outcomes for patients with bladder cancer.
The meeting also underscored the rapid pace of innovation across the field, including advances in novel therapeutics and strategies addressing unmet clinical needs in genitourinary oncology.
New Review Reshapes Understanding of Glioma Immune Microenvironment
Tyler Miller, MD, PhD, member of Case CCC’s Immune Oncology Program, is the corresponding author of an article exploring how single-cell and spatial genomics technologies are reshaping understanding of the glioma immune microenvironment.
Published in Neuro-Oncology Advances, the review, “Redefining the immune microenvironment of gliomas in the era of single-cell genomics,” synthesizes emerging insights into the functional programs executed by immune cells within glioblastoma and other gliomas.
Rather than classifying immune populations solely by broad cell types such as macrophages, microglia, or T cells, the work highlights how immune function varies across distinct tumor niches and biologic states.
The team emphasizes that understanding these immune programs — including the signals that sustain immunosuppressive states within tumors — may be critical for improving immunotherapy approaches for glioblastoma patients.
