Kristina “Kris” Austin is a nonprofit leader with strengths in community outreach and engagement, programming, relationship building, marketing, and social media strategy. She joined the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center team as Director of Community Engagement in March 2021. In this role, Kris works closely with the Associate Director for Community Outreach and Engagement to drive the Case CCC’s efforts in reducing and ultimately eliminating the disproportionate burden of cancer by promoting health equity through systematic community participatory research and engagement. She is responsible for all community outreach and engagement activities within the Case CCC in collaboration with center members, the Community Advisory Board, and institutional partners.
Prior to joining the Case CCC team, Kris served as Chief Marketing Officer for The Gathering Place from 2003-2021, an organization dedicated to the support, education, and empowerment of individuals and families coping with the impact of cancer. She also worked as Hospice Program Manager for Southwest General Health Center, Community Services Director for Community Health Partners, and Bereavement and Volunteer Services Coordinator for Hospice of St. Joseph.
Kris is a licensed social worker with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Science in Education with a Counseling Concentration from the University of Dayton.
