Sodagari Receives RSNA Research Medical Student Grant

Faezeh Sodagari, MD, member of Case CCC’s Cancer Imaging Program, has received a 2026 Research Medical Student Grant from the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Research & Education (R&E) Foundation.

Sodagari, an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology in the School of Medicine, will use the grant to explore a new fast MRI technique that could detect breast cancer in just five minutes. The project is among 79 new research and education grants funded by the RSNA R&E Foundation in 2026, representing more than $4.5 million in support for investigators and educators working to advance medical imaging and radiation oncology.

As a member of the Cancer Imaging Program, Sodagari’s research focuses on using technology and health services research to improve access to high-value breast imaging and enhance patient safety. Her work includes developing and applying artificial intelligence to breast cancer imaging-based risk assessment, as well as exploring opportunities to use breast cancer screening to assess cardiovascular risk.

The new project builds on her broader goal of developing high-value, accessible imaging tools and techniques for breast cancer screening and treatment response assessment. By reducing the time required for breast MRI, the research could help address barriers to breast imaging while supporting earlier and more accessible cancer detection.

The RSNA R&E Foundation has provided more than $92 million in funding for medical imaging investigators and educators since its founding in 1984.
