Master of Social Work

The Mandel School's Master of Science in Social Administration is a graduate-level degree in social work, ranked #9 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.

The MSSA is equivalent to an MSW and is recognized as such by employers, state licensing boards, other universities, and the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Social work employment is projected to grow 16% by 2026, much faster than the average for all other occupations. As a national leader in social work education and research, the Mandel School prepares graduates who are eminitenly prepared to effect social change from the start. Our alumni are employed by schools, hospitals, governments, nonprofits and NGOs, financial service companies and micro-lenders, and even professional sports teams.


Why the Mandel School?

Historic: When the Mandel School’s founders created America’s first professional university-affiliated school of social work, they adopted the MSSA degree designation, which places an emphasis on educating leaders in professional social work.

Grounded in Community: The Mandel School was founded by and for the Greater Cleveland community in the belief that a university-based school of social work would transform the work of people and organizations to achieve their full potential.
