The deadline for upper-class and transfer undergraduate students to choose the pass/no pass grading option (P/NP) or to withdraw from individual courses is Friday, March 29, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
By this time, you must decide to complete each of your courses for a regular evaluative grade, use the pass/no pass option or withdraw from the course. Note that if you qualify, you may continue to process these requests, but University Registrar or Undergraduate Advising Support staff will not be available after 5 p.m. ET.
Pass/No Pass Grading Option
You may choose the Pass/No Pass grading option for one course each semester (not including summer session), provided that you remain enrolled in at least three credit hours for regular evaluative grades. If you use the P/NP option for a course that is currently counting for a major, minor or general education requirement, you are agreeing to repeat the course for a letter-grade or take another course to meet that requirement in a subsequent semester.
You may exercise the P/NP option in SIS.
Course Withdrawals
Before withdrawing from a course in SIS, it is strongly recommended that you review any adjustments to your course schedule with your academic advisor to make sure you are aware of any implications of doing so.
If you withdraw from a class, a notation of “W” will show for that class on your transcript. As you make decisions about withdrawing from classes, please pay attention to any implications this will have for academic standing, scholarship eligibility, athletic eligibility and visa status, as well as whether you will need the course as a requirement or as a prerequisite for another course.
You may withdraw from courses, provided that you are in good standing and this does not leave you actively enrolled in fewer than 12 credit hours. All other course withdrawals require a drop/add form signed by your four-year advisor. To withdraw from a course, follow the same SIS procedure that you use to drop a course during the drop/add period. Be sure to continue the process until you see a screen with a message that you successfully dropped the course and have been given a grade of “W.”
All students have the opportunity to withdrawal completely from the semester until the last day of classes on Monday, April 29. However, students who withdraw completely after Friday, March 29, may not enroll for the summer session and fall semester, but may petition to re-enroll for the spring 2025 semester. Appeal statements can be submitted to a student’s four-year advisor in Undergraduate Advising Support and exceptions may be granted by the Academic Standing Board.
