Winter Break Operation Levels for Multi-Purpose Facilities

The following multi-purpose facilities will be closed for student use Nov. 21, 2020 through Jan. 31, 2021:

  • Amasa Stone Chapel
  • Ford Auditorium
  • Allen Memorial Medical Library
  • Strosacker Auditorium
     

Modified Facility Access and Hours:

Tuesday, Nov. 24: 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 30: noon - 8 p.m.

Beginning Monday Dec. 1, Kelvin Smith Library is closed except by scheduled book pickup.

  • The three making floors—Floor 4 Fabrication, Floor 3 Prototyping, and Floor 2 Collaboration—will be closed to in-person use as of Nov 20.
  • Sears Think[box] will continue to offer remote services (currently in-place for community members) and expand to campus users.
  • Small group meeting and study spaces on Floor 6 will continue to be open on a reservation basis through Dec 16.
  • Floor 5 Student Clubs and Projects will stay open 24/7 for club members, depending on status of Shelter-in-Place protocol. 
  • January hours are still being determined.

Nov. 20, 2020 — Dec. 16, 2021

  • Maltz Performing Arts Center will be accessible through scheduled performances, classes and rehearsals.
  • Card access for faculty and students will expire on Dec. 16, 2020 for the fall semester.

Dec. 17, 2020 — Jan. 13, 2021

  • Maltz Performing Arts Center will be accessible through scheduled performances, classes and rehearsals.
  • Card access for faculty and students will be renewed once classes resume in February.

Nov. 20, 2020 — Jan. 31, 2021

  • TVUC will be accessible 24/7 via active CWRU ID card swipe only to staff, faculty and all student levels—professional, graduate and undergraduate.
  • TVUC will maintain a security presence 24/7.
  • There will be no active food service available in the facility.
  • Vending machines are accessible.
  • Professional staff will be on site from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. (except university holidays).
  • The second floor will be inaccessible to visitors to reduce sanitization load on custodial teams.

While the number of students residing on campus will be lower after Thanksgiving Break, Thwing Center staff will continue to make space available within the student center for those who will be remaining in the residence halls, as well as those students (undergraduate and graduate) who are living off campus.
 
Thwing Center is entirely student run and operated under the supervision of professional staff, and will need to slightly reduce hours of operation due to the number of student employees remaining on or around campus.  
 
Friday, Nov. 13 through Friday Nov. 20 (Regular Hours):

  • Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Sundays, noon to 10 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 21 through Tuesday, Nov. 24 (Break Hours):

  • Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Closed Saturday and Sunday 

Wednesday, Nov. 25 through Sunday, Nov. 29 (Thanksgiving Break):

Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

  • The Foster-Castele Great Hall front entrance is swipe accessible to students, faculty and staff during business hours. There is no security in the building, but Alumni Association staff is onsite in the adjoining Alumni House. 
  • The Alumni House entrances are only accessible to Alumni Association, Annual Giving and essential facilities staff during business hours.
